Wendy K. Johnson, a native of Elba and the daughter of Allen and Edna Ingerle of Elba, made history on Saturday, April 2nd, when she became the first woman in the history of the Nebraska Air National Guard to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general. Johnson’s career began in the Nebraska Air National Guard as an enlisted administrative clerk with the 155th Combat Support Squadron in Lincoln in 1984, the year she graduated from Elba High School.

City to look into sale of properties

concerning divesting the city’s ownership of both the St. Paul landfill site on Twin Forks Lane and the St. Paul Senior Center on Howard Avenue.

The council took no action on determining the future of either site, but St. Paul Mayor Mike Feeken said he would investigate the process necessary to divest the city’s ownership of both properties.

The first discussion came during a report by St. Paul Utilities Superintendent Matt Helzer concerning the two parcels the city owns north of St. Paul on Twin Forks Lane.

FARWELL IRRIGATION DISTRICT IS Drought to impact timing of deliveries this spring As the months move ever closer to irrigation season, members of the Farwell Irrigation District are hard at work. The irrigation district manages a system of canals and laterals responsible for diverting about 85,000 acrefeet of water from the Sherman Reservoir per year to approximately 68,381 acres of farmland in Sherman and Howard counties.
