THANK YOU

Body
The family of Florence Duester would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped us through our grieving process. To Brookefield Park for caring for her when she could no longer be home. To everyone who visited her while she was there. To Jacobsen–Greenway–Dietz Funeral Home for wonderful service and taking such good care of us. To Father Vince and Deacon Neal for the lovely service. To those who prepared and served the meal. To those who gave flowers, plants, and money donations. To our friends and co-workers for their kind and caring words and being there when we were in need. Most of all, to our wonderful children and grandchildren for all the comfort and love that helped us get through this difficult time. Tim & Linda Duester Bob & Cindi Layher

Over sixty people attended an informational meeting on the Elba school on Monday evening. The meeting was held prior to the regular meeting of the Elba Board of Education. Superintendent Shalikow noted that Elba’s ninth through twelfth grade enrollment is below twenty-five this year and is projected to be at or below twenty-five percent next year. When that happens, state law says the school must close…One avenue that the Elba School Board is exploring is to unify with another school district… Another option would be to consolidate with another school district. “When that happens, you lose all of your control and become part of the other school,” Shalikow said…There were some negative comments about consolidating with St. Paul, but one parent said that the experience of cooperating sports with St. Paul has been very positive.
