Here comes some summer heat and our nation’s 250th birthday. As expected, the rivers have declined after the big rain last week. The South Loup River now has a flow of 232 cubic-feet-per-second (cfs). The Middle Loup River is reading 1,040 cfs. The North Loup River is flowing 904 cfs.

Ten Years Ago, 2016 Four former Major League baseball players will be in St. Paul to be the Grand Marshals of the Grover Cleveland Alexander Days twenty-fifth anniversary parade on Saturday morning, July 9th. Jackie Brandt, Lee Tate, Jeff Richardson and Buddy Hunter will all be in town for the 10:00 a.m. parade and will be at the Nebraska Museum of Major League Baseball between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. for a meet and greet, where they will visit with fans and sign autographs.

A new downtown business, Running Wolf Originals, officially opened its doors in St. Paul on Friday, June 19th, following a soft opening period that began earlier in the spring. The shop, located in a renovated storefront at 706 Howard Avenue, blends herbal products, handcrafted goods, and wellness services with an emphasis on community vendors and local wares.

NEW RECYCLING FACILITY A BOON TO New building already proving to be beneficial Four months after the ribbon was cut on the Loup Central Landfill Association’s new recycling facility south of Elba, employees say the investment is proving its value by improving safety, increasing recycling efficiency, and helping preserve landfill space for years to come. The landfill association serves several area counties, including Howard, Sherman, Greeley, Loup, and Garfield, and myriad additional communities throughout the area, such as Palmer in Merrick County.
