Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2016 The Central Valley Cougars qualified five team members to the State Track and Field Championships, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke High School. They are Jordan Manhold, Rusty Hermsmeyer, Devyn Erickson, Chase Nordhues and Kayla Rother.

WOLBACH TO OBSERVE MEMORIAL DAY

Wolbach’s American Legion Post #236 and American Legion Unit #236 will conduct their annual Memorial Day programs on Monday, May 25th. The observance will start at the Wolbach Community Center at 10:00 a.m., then will conclude at Hillside Cemetery, where the roll call of deceased veterans will be read, a Twenty-One-Gun Salute fired, Taps played, and the retreat.

We received a great rain Saturday night. Shawn and I took a drive early Sunday morning to see the water flowing in the creeks and rivers. We noticed more, but not enough to have any concerns about the banks overflowing. We noticed the water level in our ponds rose nicely.

Bonnie Cates, lead consultant for Educational Resources, Inc. of Memphis, New York, was in St. Paul on May 11th to present the St. Paul Elementary staff and students with the company’s “Golden Apple Award:” to commend them for their success in the company’s reading program, Reading Master. In presenting the award, Cates commended everyone involved at St. Paul for their “work in progress, as well as a job well done.”

Reminder: The Elba Cemetery Memorial Day service will be held Monday May 25th at 9:00 a.m. at the Elba Cemetery. Coffee and rolls at the Community Center following the service. In case of rain, the service will be held at the Elba United Methodist Church.
