Commissioners deny CUP for new Verizon communication tower in county

Following an hour-long public hearing during their first meeting for the month of August last Tuesday, the Howard County Commissioners voted 2-1 to deny a conditional use permit (CUP) application for a new Verizon communication tower west of Cushing.

STUDENTS across Howard County were scheduled to return to class this week, with school starting in Elba on Tuesday and at St. Paul and Centura on Thursday. Last Thursday, in preparation for the upcoming year, the Elba School community held its annual Back-to-School Bash.
