Remember When

Body
Ten Years Ago, 2013 The four-plex apartment building will be undergoing a wide range of improvements thanks to a $126,795 grant received by the village, which manages the facility. The grant, which did not carry a need of matching funds, will cover energy efficient furnaces, central air, windows, exterior doors, painting, bathroom fixtures, siding, sidewalks, some carpet replacement, drop ceilings, and sheeting to sound-proof the units. The four-plex was constructed in the late 1960s when twenty individuals went together to obtain financing through the Farmers Home Administration. A number of years ago, the village board refinanced locally, and the units will be debt-free in the very near future.

Happ-enings

Last month, I joined my fellow newspaper friends and peers from across the Cornhusker State at the Nebraska Press Association’s annual convention in Lincoln. As always, the annual gathering of ink slingers was full of educational experiences, exciting events, and friendly fun.

Be Your Best

Body
The Bible tells us that God has given each of us different gifts and that He wants us to use these gifts in accordance with the grace that He has bestowed upon us. When we think about these special gifts that someone may possess, we naturally think about great talents like those of a famous artist, or a skilled surgeon. However, most of us have more common everyday gifts that we are required to use in our daily lives. We should try to recognize and take pride in the different gifts and talents that our Heavenly Father has given to us, and we should use these offerings for His glory. Whether we are given the gift of being a parent, a teacher, or a taxi driver, we should try to do our very best, and we should always be appreciative of God’s caring love for us. Our Lord wants the best for us, and our serving others, reflects our love for Him. We should willingly share our talents with others and we should do it generously. We should work hard, and whenever we show kindness to others, we should do it c heerfully.
