The family of Joe Wrede expresses our deepest thanks to our extended families, neighbors, and friends who attended, helped, and supported us prior to and after the funeral, each in their own way. Also, thank you for sharing your memories of Joe with us. Your many kindnesses, condolences, contributions, and Mass offerings continue to offer us comfort. We especially thank Father Antony Thekkekara and Greeley Sacred Heart Church Circle Three for providing the luncheon.

The Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion would like to express our appreciation to everyone who attended the Memorial Day program at the Elmwood Cemetery. Thank you to Father Alex Borzych for the fine speech. Thank you to Deb and Roger Wells for the sharing of their musical talent. Thank you to the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for their help, and thank you to all the members of the Legion family for their participation in the program.

Thede Awarded P.E.O. Scholarship

Elizabeth Thede, a 2023 graduate of Saint Paul High School, was awarded a $2,500 STAR Scholarship by the P.E.O. Sisterhood. P.E.O. is an organization of nearly 500,000 women across North America which supports and encourages education for women. Elizabeth was nominated by Chapter AP, the local branch of P.E.O., which was established in 1906, more than 100 years ago.

HAWKINS: Kayla (Essink) and Jason Hawkins of St. Paul are first time parents of a daughter, Oakley Jaye Hawkins. She was born on May 29, 2023 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. She weighed 6 lb., 14 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Grandparents are Rick and Joy Hawkins of Mason City and David and Jodi Essink of Hastings.

Mobile Food Pantry to be Saturday

The Howard-Greeley County Food Pantry and Foodbank for the Heartland will be sponsoring a Mobile Food Pantry on Saturday, June 10th, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., or until all the food is gone, whichever is sooner. Anyone can be served; there are no age limits, no income guidelines, or limits on family size. Families from any county may be served. A wide variety of fresh foods, as well as canned goods, will be available to choose from.
