Just over three weeks since taking over the Sweet Shoppe Cafe (formerly the Sweet Shoppe) in St. Paul from longtime owner Alice Osterman-Davis, new owners Dan and Shannon Bergman say that, although there is still much work to do, the business is outperforming even their own high expectations.
The Howard County Fairgrounds Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was recently established as a fundraising arm of the Howard County Agricultural Society, received its first donation this May, a $2,000 donation courtesy of Farm Credit Services of America.
Six St. Paul students have been selected to attend Great Plains RYLA, hosted by District 5630 and 5610. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and is a leadership development program of Rotary International. Great Plains RYLA was founded in 1990 and focuses on high school sophomores and juniors and on four key areas: demonstrating Rotary’s respect and concern for youth; providing an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders; encouraging leadership of youth by youth; and publicly recognizing young people who are rendering service to their communities.
