More than 300 bicyclists—and probably close to 100 additional family members and supporters—trekked across the Cornhusker State last week as part of the nonprofit Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) organization’s forty-third annual state-traversing ride.

Despite overcast skies and rain, the St. Paul Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department’s annual pancake feed and raffle saw a strong showing on Sunday, June 8th, bringing in a steady crowd and support from across the area.

AMERICAN LEGION FAMILY HOSTS MAY MEETING

In the absence of Commander Luke Thompson, the joint May meeting of the Ray Mapes American Legion Post 236 was called to order on May 20th by Myron Rother. Ten Legion, one Son, and five Auxiliary members were in attendance. Chaplain Rhonda Allen gave the prayer; Rother and Jan Steenson performed the POW/ MIA chair program.

Chapter Officer Leadership Training helps teach new officers more about the FFA organization in general and prepares them for the responsibilities of being an officer…While at COLT they learned the duties of the offices they hold and how to better themselves as leaders.

I checked the river flows on Sunday morning. The South Loup River is 328 cubic-feet-per-second (cfs), compared to 200 cfs last week. The Middle Loup River last week was at 1,020 cfs, now it’s 1,310 cfs. The North Loup River is down a little from last week. It’s 1,160 cfs this week, compared to last week, when it was at 1,250 cfs.
