SPHS Robotics Team Competes

Body
THE WILDCAT ROBOTICS TEAM traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 30th, 31st, and April 1st to compete in the United States Open Robotics Competition. At the competition, forty-eight of the fifty states were represented and some international teams as well. During the tournament, our teams competed in the “skills” portion, where students try to score as many points as possible, individually. After skills, all four of wildcat teams competed in the qualifying rounds and did well against the other teams present. St. Paul had three teams that brought home medals in the tournament. Mason Childers, Jackson Kramer, and Roman Lentz received the runner-up trophy during the competition, as their robot was in the second place alliance. Kale Smydra received second place overall in the skills competition with his robot. Kolton Williams and Kaleb Kaslon received the Innovate award for their robot design and team interview. “I’m very proud of all the hard work these students put into their robots this year, and look forward to next year’s game and season,” said Coach Dustin Nilson.
