Sixth-seeded Central Valley (24-1) came three points shy of a state tournament berth in last Friday’s D1-6 District Final, falling to eleventh- seeded Cross County (19-7) 47-44. In a Cougars versus Cougars showdown, Central Valley’s Annaka Wood opened the contest with a deep three-pointer, but Cross County put together an 8-3 run until Wood found a cutting Bentleigh Dugan in the paint for a basket.

TWO-TIMERS, TEN YEARS APART St. Paul senior Alex Meinecke became just the third wrestler in program history to win two state wrestling titles on Saturday. The second wrestler on that list, David Gross, won his second title ten years ago, in 2016, at 170 pounds. The first name on that list was Milroy Harvey, who won titles in 1929, 1930, and 1931.
