Struggles from inside the batter’s box ended in a pair of losses for St. Paul/Palmer last week. The Cats suffered a pair of ten-run rule losses to Adams Central and Seward to bring their early-season record to 1- 3.

The Central Valley boys’ 4x100-meter relay team was able to put an exclamation point on a successful season opener on the track last week when the Cougars picked up a gold medal in the quarter-mile race.

The Elba Bluejays jumped into a new season last Thursday, and, unlike most outings during the spring, weather was not a factor. Last week, the Bluejays joined a host of other teams who competed at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) Class D High School Indoor Invitational at Cushing fieldhouse in Kearney.

Last Thursday, the Cougars were among a handful of teams who competed at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Class D High School Indoor Invite, and Central Valley got their season started on the right foot.

Last Thursday, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, the District D1-7 champions found themselves facing an uphill battle when they tipped off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic in the quarterfinals of the NSAA State Basketball Championships.

From a full house for the district final to a strong showing during the quarterfinal round of the NSAA State Basketball Tournament, fans of Centura High School hoops brought their “A” game during the postseason this year.
