Just a handful of weeks into their 2024 campaign and the Elba Bluejays have already seen a bevy of the area’s best competition. That trend didn’t end last Tuesday, as the Bluejays joined twelve other teams at the Fullerton Invite.

An onslaught of wintery weather put a damper on many athletic activities scheduled across the Cornhusker State last week, but even a spring blizzard couldn’t stop the gun from firing at Pleasanton High School’s annual Dick O’Neill Memorial Invite.

Central Valley battles at competitive Dick O’Neill Memorial Invite Central Valley’s Zaden Wolf logged the best performance of his career on the track at Kearney High School last Thursday. But it wasn’t the best time of the day.

It was a clean sweep for the St. Paul girls in the relay races at last Thursday’s Arcadia/Loup City Rebel Invite. Those three wins, in addition to eleven individual medals and three golds, vaulted the Wildcats to a second-place overall finish in the team standings.

The Merrick County Invite provides high school athletes from across the area a chance to get prepared for the upcoming season in a competitive setting, and last Thursday, when the Elba Bluejays traveled to Central City, they came to compete.
