THE ST. PAUL FCCLA CHAPTER recently enjoyed a three-day trip to Lincoln for the FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Students participated in leadership workshops, networking events, and Students Taking Action for Recognition (STAR) competitions. STAR competitions include competitive events that demonstrate skills learned in family and consumer science classes. Competitors participating in this year’s event included Addisyn Powell, silver medal for Level 1 Food Innovations; Jordyn Eytcheson, silver medal for Level 1 Fashion Construction; Kailynda Ritter and Makayla Stepanek, Level 1 Sports Nutrition second place with silver medals; Josef Kaslon, Level 3 for Red Talks on Education and first place for the parliamentary procedure knowledge test; Jordyn Eytcheson, second place fashion construction knowledge test; Karina Smydra modeled in the fashion show during the recognition session; and Audrey Anderson completed her term as the Nebraska State FCCLA Vice-President of Membership. Additionally, the St. Paul Chapter was awarded a Gold Chapter distinction.
