FRIES: Jeremy and Alana Fries of Seward are first-time parents of a son, Maverick John. He was born May 17, 2022 at Bryan Health in Lincoln. He weighed 8 lb., and 8 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. Grandparents are Larry Pfiefer and the late Elaine Pfiefer of Marysville and Bill and Shelly Fries of Grand Island.

On May 27th, Dave and Barbara Tuma enjoyed dinner in Kearney with Rob and Sandy Rucilez and Logan Renkin, all of Kearney. In the evening, Dave and Barbara attended Caden Moderow’s baseball game in Cairo.

The South Loup River on Monday morning had a discharge of 223 cubic feet per second, with a height of 2.50 feet. The Middle Loup River’s discharge was 1,430 cubic feet per second, with a height of 1.75 feet. The river is going up from the rains we recently received.

Ten Years Ago, 2012 The queen and king of this year’s Grundlovsfest at Dannebrog were Linda Bornmann and Don Smith, both of Dannebrog. They rode in the Saturday morning parade and reigned over the two-day celebration that was held under ideal weather conditions.
