Commissioners Tackle Numerous Items

Various items came before members of the Howard County Board of Commissioners during their first regular meeting of the month of December last Tuesday, among them the annual application for the Nebraska Crime Commission grant, developments on the county’s push to implement telecourt capabilities in Howard County courts, various items related to the county roads, and a proposition from Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 for the placement of eight new flagpoles in front of the Howard County Courthouse.

Michael Happ • P-H Publisher Frightened by the stories I was reading in the news about the severity of this year’s flu season, last Friday morning, I decided I had finally better get my annual flu shot. Better late than never, right? After getting my inoculation, which I’m sure will make my doctors beam with pride, the nurse asked me whether I wanted a Band-Aid to cover the injection site.

As of Sunday, the South Loup meter was not frozen and had a reading of 130 cubic feet per second. The Middle Loup at St. Paul has dropped greatly, with a reading of 132 cubic feet per second. I did a second look at that one to make sure that’s what the reading shows on the web site.

Santa Visits Legion

THE DANNEBROG American Legion Post 241 hosted a children’s Christmas party for thirty youngsters and their parents last Saturday. Festivities included Christmas treats, bingo games, and an ugly sweater contest. A special surprise for the children was a visit with Santa Claus. Every child, and even a few adults, spent a moment with Santa and received a bag of treats.(Courtesy Photo)
