After almost seventy years being closed, a portion of Third Street may soon reopen in St. Paul.

A bit of winter came back this past week with the snow and cold. Sunday morning, the South Loup River was up from last Monday’s reading. It was flowing 301 cubic-feetper- second (cfs). The Middle Loup River was down from last week reading 1,580 cfs. The North Loup River has dropped some; the reading is 1,150 cfs. All three rivers have fluctuated in the past week.

To all that thought of me for my 90th birthday: Thank you so much for your letters, cards, gifts, telephone calls, and Facebook wishes. The real surprise was the Zoom with the Methodist church, to talk to some of the members and friends that came to wish me happy birthday. My family had a party here to celebrate with my family and friends in Springfield on Tuesday. Getting older sure has its rewards. I am so blessed to have family and friends to share with in my life. Greg and Vicki Keep attended the funeral service for Lois Johnson in West Point on Saturday morning. They also attended the luncheon that followed.

Thursday afternoon, Julie Spilinek visited Rose Ross at her home in St. Paul and then she visited Virginia Hirschman at Matelyn Retirement Community.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol handled dozens of weather-related incidents last week as a winter storm affected most of the state. One of the crashes resulted in two fatalities.
