New podcast aims to reach unique demographic

The Merrick Foundation, Inc. is trying their hand at content creation this year with its newly established podcast entitled Merrick Foundation: Making an Impact Together. 
Merrick Foundation Executive Director Shauna Graham said that she hopes the endeavor, which had released four episodes as of last week, helps expose the philanthropic organization and the local causes it supports to a new demographic.
“This is something that we talked about in our strategic plan last summer,” she said. “One of the questions we were facing was: ‘Where do people get their information?’

Mid-week blizzard impacted between 1,200 to 1,300 meters in power district Beginning in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 19th, a powerful winter storm swept through Nebraska, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds and creating hazardous conditions throughout the central and eastern portions of the state. Ice, snow, and winds that in some places exceeded eighty miles an hour wreaked havoc on energy infrastructure— especially power lines, which, beset by frost and gale, galloped and broke.

McKeon making strides as district’s new legislator

The ninety-day first session of Nebraska’s 109th Legislature, which began on January 7th and ends on June 9th, marked its forty-fifth day in session last Monday. After a morning packed with hearings last Thursday, State Senator Dan McKeon— newly elected representative of the state’s 41st Legislative District—said things were “overall going well” despite some “wasting of time” by the state’s forty-nine member, single- house legislating body.
