The Nebraska Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society (SWCS), the Nebraska Soil and Water Conservation Foundation (NSWCF), and the Nebraska Chapter SWCS-UNL Foundation recently announced the eight scholarship recipients for the spring 2026 semester. Each recipient was awarded $1,000.

Members of the Howard County Board of Commissioners spent much of the first three hours of their January 27th regular meeting setting the groundwork for many items they will discuss and act on this month and later in the year. Discussion pertaining to the new and old county roads buildings, in particular, occupied a sizeable portion of the morning and mid-morning agenda.

Just like last week, all river flow readings are listed as “ice” for South Loup, Middle Loup, and the North Loup rivers. The temperatures this past week have been on the cold side.
