A major winter storm was scheduled to move into the plains Monday night into Tuesday…The National Weather Service forecast for St. Paul called for only a half inch of snow during the day on Monday. Five to nine inches were predicted for Monday night, with another three to five inches during the day on Tuesday. Strong winds, when combined with the snow, resulted in the blizzard warning…In anticipation of the storm, The Phonograph Herald was to be printed early. The plans are to have the newspaper printed in Grand Island on Monday night so that it can be delivered to the post office on Wednesday as usual.
