Cougars say goodbye, celebrate on Saturday

Nineteen Cougars turned their tassels during commencement exercises held inside the Central Valley Auditorium in Greeley on Saturday afternoon. Starting at 2:00 p.m., to the tunes of Pomp and Circumstance, members of the Class of 2024 made their way across the gymnasium floor to the theater stage, where, surrounded by family and friends, they received their diplomas and made their official transition to being Central Valley alumni.

Elba held commencement exercises for their five-member Class of 2014 at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday in the school gymnasium. Brady Spilinek, son of Russ and Missy Spilinek of Elba, was the valedictorian and Chris Lewis, son of Mel and Gloria Lewis of Cotesfield, was salutatorian.

On Sunday, at about 8:30 in the evening, I checked the river flows. The South Loup was at 308 cfs, at 4:00 p.m. it was 262 cfs and the Middle Loup River was at 1,860 cfs, down from 1,900 cfs at 7:45. As it is still raining, I think the flows will fluctuate more tonight and maybe tomorrow.
