Dusters, Eagles leave Centurions still searching for first victory

Two games into their 2023-2024 season, the Centura boys’ basketball team is still searching for their first victory of the season. Last week, the Centurions opened the year in a competitive game against Holdrege on Thursday night before battling their Highway 11 foes from Wood River on the road on Saturday.

Eventual Class D-2 champions sweep Central Valley at state tournament Central Valley’s first appearance at the NSAA State Volleyball Tournament in nearly half a decade may not have produced the results that the Cougars were hoping for; however, it did provide the team with a springboard for the future. “You know, if you are not winning, you’re learning,” said Central Valley Head Coach Diane Kasselder last Thursday.

Last-second touchdown ends Cougars’ season

Two high powered offenses collided on Friday night, but, ultimately, in a battle of unbeaten teams, it was the defenses that made the differences. Last week, Central Valley found themselves in a catfight with South Loup, with the Bobcats edging past the Cougars 28-22 to advance to the semifinals of the NSAA Class D-2 State Football Playoffs.

Cougars encounter learning curve at state

Central Valley’s first appearance at the NSAA State Volleyball Tournament in almost half a decade may not have produced the results that the Cougars were hoping for; however, it did provide the team with a springboard for the future.

On a cold Friday night, the Central Valley Cougars wasted little time in punching their ticket to the quarterfinal round of the NSAA State Football Playoffs. Last week, on Memorial Field in Wolbach, the Cougars continued their perfect season with a 46-6 victory over Bruning- Davenport-Shickley (BDS).

Bluejays split matches during subdistrict tournament
