KONRAD “KONI” BERNI

Body
from Vals, Switzerland and Virgil Berney from Lincoln made a recent trip to Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach to place flowers and a Swiss flag on the grave of Virgil’s great-grandfather, Joseph Berney. Berney was born in Vals and immigrated to the Wolbach area in 1874 and raised a family of nine children. The Berney name is spelled “Berni” in Vals, and many Berni families still live in the little village in the Swiss Alps. Berni stayed for a week in the Berneys’ home in Lincoln and toured several areas of historical interest to the family.
