Centurions capitalize on unique canvas

As the spring semester comes to a close, art students at Centura Public Schools have been using an upcoming art room renovation as an opportunity to let their imaginations run wild. Over the last days of the 2024–2025 academic year, about forty sixth-through- eleventh graders at the district have been using a wall marked for demolition as a canvas for a mural project aimed at engaging them with the concept of “abstract art.

Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2015 Wolbach a Busy Place Last Weekend — A crowd of over 400 people attended the Wolbach High School Alumni Reunion Saturday night at the school gym…The mortgage was burned for the new Wolbach Community Center during ceremonies at the center on Saturday afternoon… The Wolbach Memorial Fun Run/Walk was held Saturday, May 24th, with 110 participants. The event raised $3,800 towards the purchase of a wheelchair/lift-accessible vehicle for William Meyer, 21…The annual Wolbach Bull Riding event was held Sunday night at the rodeo arena in Cottonwood Park, followed by a street dance.

The Howard County Board of Commissioners covered a number of items during its first regular meeting of the month of May last Tuesday, May 13th. The new Howard County roads building under construction near the Howard County Fairgrounds was the subject of discussion during a brief update from Howard County Highway Superintendent Janet Thomsen.

Blue skies and flags flying in the breeze greeted those who attended the Memorial Day services at Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul on Monday morning. Carl Mogensen Post 119’s firing squad and color guard, along with the color guards from the Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119, participated in the ceremony.

Jerabek earns master’s degree from Chadron

Chadron State College recently honored 245 candidates for bachelor’s degrees and sixty-five candidates for master’s degrees during their annual commencement exercises at the Chicoine Center. Undergraduate senior Ella O’Brien of Chadron offered the opening moment of reflection for the combined ceremony and graduate student Kylie Kempf of Carroll offered the closing moment of reflection.
