Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2016 Bernadene Bane and Jan Steenson represented Wolbach Auxiliary Unit 236 at the 2016 Mid-Year Conference held at the Lied Center in Nebraska City on January 16th and 17th. It was the first time they had attended a Mid-Year Conference, and they will try to implement many of the things they learned.
The North Loup River dropped its flow significantly in a few hours. At 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th the river was running 1,550 cubic-feet-per-second (cfs). At 8:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, the North Loup River was running at 486 cfs. Could there be an ice jam?
THE HOWARD COUNTY FOUNDATION presented a check to the St. Paul Economic Development Corporation and the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce on January 9th. The two organizations submitted a joint application requesting funds for the purchase and installation of a divider and new scoreboard for the civic center gymnasium and a new sound system for downtown St. Paul. The joint application requested matching funds of $30,252.00 for those three projects.
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and a sincere thank you to many friends and family members who attended my eightieth birthday celebration in December. Also, much appreciation for the beautiful cards, gifts, and plants. It was a wonderful time of visiting with longtime friends and sharing stories from the past.
Dave and Barbara Tuma went to Kearney on Tuesday for a medical appointment and also enjoyed dinner with Robert and Sandy Rucilez and their granddaughter. On their way home, they stopped in Ravenna to briefly visit Denise Kucera.
