Last Wednesday, February 8th, from about 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., about twenty members of the Boelus, Dannebrog, and Cairo fire departments engaged in search and rescue training at a dilapidated property in Dannebrog. The structure, according to Boelus Fire Chief Wayne Reimers last week, is set to be razed by fire later this year.
Voters in the City of St. Paul showed strong support for a new fire station when they went to the ballot box in November. Now, with the revenue source–a half-cent sales tax increase –established to fund the construction of a new fire hall, the city just needs to nail down a place to put it.
Following five years at the helm of the district, Ryan Ruhl is set to retire from his position as superintendent of Centura Public Schools at the culmination of the academic year. With his retirement having been officially accepted by a unanimous vote during a special meeting of the Centura Board of Education on February 1st, Ruhl is expected to wrapup his three-decade career in education this June.

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met on January 26, 2023, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebraska, at 1:00 p.m. President Lois Wegner called the meeting to order and asked for recitation of the Collect, followed by singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma Song, led by Nola Oberhelman. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved, and Treasurer Dianne Vorderstrasse gave an updated financial report for the chapter.
