Several St. Paul Public School (SPPS) students received quite a surprise when they congregated for what had initially seemed to be a typical school assembly on Friday, April 21st. After a year away, a St. Paul resident, serviceman, and father, Adam Powell, had returned home.

Julie Spilinek coordinated a family member get-together on Saturday noon at an eatery in Hastings. Those attending were Annette Kuehn and Marvin and Kathy Nielsen of Minden, Wanda Portenier of Hastings, Marge Pfeil of Doniphan, and Lisa Follmer of Kearney, and, of course, Julie Spilinek.

Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2013 Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach will be celebrating being a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) on Sunday, April 28th. The ELCA has been in existence for twenty-five years. Activities will start off with a carry-in potluck dinner beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following this, there will be a short program upstairs. An offering will be taken for the Malaria Campaign the ELCA is sponsoring. Nebraska’s goal is $25,000. The Dorcas Circle is in charge of the program.

First Holy Communion Celebrated in St. Paul

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION was celebrated during the ten o’clock Mass on Sunday, April 16th, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. Fourteen second grade students received this special Sacrament.
