The Phonograph-Herald has a new look starting this week. “Due to production changes, we have gone to a narrower web, which has resulted in one less column and narrower columns,” said Connie Thompson, editor of The Phonograph- Herald. “We don’t like change, and this is actually only the fourth time in 140 years that this newspaper has changed its size.” Most weeks, the newspaper will be printed in one section, which will eliminate a section being lost in the mail. “We will offer full color to our advertisers, which is something we could not do in the past,” added Thompson.

About two months after its completion, a culvert project on Merrick Road is proving to be a benefit to residents and landowners in northeast Howard County. The new culvert lies about one mile north of the intersection of Merrick Road and Cushing Road on the Merrick Strip, a thin, ninemile- long panhandle of Merrick County interposed between Howard and Nance counties.
