Concerns over the coating at the City of St. Paul’s new pickleball and tennis courts have kept the courts closed and have left the contractor on the project waiting for final payment.
Central Nebraska bore the brunt of a massive blizzard that struck the area early last week. Snow began falling in Howard County Monday evening, February 1st, and lasted through most of the night on Tuesday. The heavy snow was accompanied by winds between thirty to forty miles per hour with gusts into the fifties. St. Paul received an official 14.3 inches with a moisture content of 1.71 inches.
The Nebraska Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society (SWCS), the Nebraska Soil and Water Conservation Foundation (NSWCF), and the Nebraska Chapter SWCS-UNL Foundation recently announced the eight scholarship recipients for the spring 2026 semester. Each recipient was awarded $1,000.
Members of the Howard County Board of Commissioners spent much of the first three hours of their January 27th regular meeting setting the groundwork for many items they will discuss and act on this month and later in the year. Discussion pertaining to the new and old county roads buildings, in particular, occupied a sizeable portion of the morning and mid-morning agenda.
