As of Sunday afternoon, the South Loup River was up just a bit, at 107 cubic feet per second (CFS); and the Middle Loup River was down some, at 1,460 cfs. The North Loup River went up, with a reading of 1,260 cfs, compared to 1,010 last week.

Christmas Cheer Program now underway

The 2024 Christmas Cheer Program for Howard County is currently underway. Applications will be available after October 17, 2024 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Baxter Street, St. Paul; Citizens Bank and Trust, 721 7th Street, St. Paul; or the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce office, 619 Howard Avenue, St. Paul. The Methodist church hours are 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. from Tuesday until Thursday. To be considered a recipient, all completed applications must be returned by Friday, November 22nd, 2024 to the United Methodist Church, Again this year gift cards to Hometown Market will be distributed. Beginning the first week in December, there will be a tree for mittens, hats, and stocking caps at Citizens Bank. If you would like to purchase a gift for a child or family ($30-$35 limit per gift), gift tags will be also be available at Citizens Bank.
