The Centurion girls’ basketball team wasn’t fazed by the travel or the competition last week, as the Howard County netters traveled to the banks of the Missouri River for the Blizzard Blowout Holiday Tournament.

The Elba Bluejays were on fire last Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Hampton Hawks were even hotter.

As girls wrestling continues to grow in popularity across the Cornhusker State, tournaments and invites continue to see the caliber of competition be ratcheted up. That was the case last Thursday, when the Centura girls’ wrestling team made the trek to Fairbury to compete at the Jeffs’ home invite.

The Centura girls’ basketball team could not have asked for a better Christmas gift, as the Burgundy and Gray are set to head into the holiday break with a perfect record. During what proved to be a whirlwind on the hardwood for the Centurions, last week, the team notched a trio of victories, including wins over Central Valley, Grand Island Central Catholic, and Ord.

The caliber of competition ran the gamut at last week’s Pierce Invite. Yet, even with so many strong competitors representing schools from the Omaha metro to Gothenburg, the St. Paul girls’ wrestling team still was able to make some waves at the Bluejays’ meet.
