Diane M. Simard, who grew up in Cotesfield and was a 1983 graduate of Elba High School, has released her second book.

I would like to thank everyone for helping out around the farm this summer with the mowing, cattle, and everything else that needed done. Also a huge thank you to everyone involved in the benefit and all the awesome donations. And a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support me and my family in any way. Thanks for all of the calls, visits, texts, and prayers. It has all been greatly appreciated. It really warms my heart for everything that everyone had done.

The Spilinek/Svoboda/ Krepel/Jares family reunion will be held on Sunday, September 24th at the Elba Community Center at 12:30 p.m. All family members and friends are welcome. Please bring a main dish and salad or dessert to share. Drinks will be furnished.

During an agenda littered with brief items of business, multiple items pertaining to local law enforcement were discussed by the Howard County Board of Commissioners during their first regular meeting of the month of September last Tuesday. Among these items were an insurance claim for the replacement of a glass door and its pane at St. Paul Public Schools (SPPS) that had been damaged by the discharge of a Howard County sheriff’s deputy’s sidearm last month and concerns regarding the county’s Central Nebraska Special Response Team (SRT) agreement.
