The Loup rivers are up. The reading on the South Loup River is 109 cfs, almost the same as last week, and the Middle Loup River at St. Paul is at 772, down from 951 cfs last week. I don’t usually pay attention to the North Loup River near St. Paul; it caught my eye with a reading of 1,340 cfs. It’s running almost 500 cfs more than normal due to the rain that was received in that area.

Love

Body
Because God is love, love is the first fruit of the Spirit. When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest He answered unhesitantly, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40) The entire Old and New Testament are a love story: The love of God for his people and their frequently wavering love for God and for each other. But how often we see that God’s people need to be reminded of this. And again, how often we hear the prophets reminding them, and us, that God does not want strife or sacrifice, but a loving heart.
