Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2014 Madeline Roth of Wolbach won the grand championship in the FFA junior meat goat showmanship and the gold medal in the 4-H senior meat goat showmanship. The decision has been made that the final issue for The Wolbach Messenger will be on Thursday, July 31st.

Checking the river levels on Sunday evening, the flows were up again due to the rain. Both the South Loup and Middle Loup rivers are about twice what is normal for this time of year. The South Loup River is running 253 cfs and the Middle Loup at St. Paul is 1,030 cfs. As for the North Loup River, it is just a little more than a third over normal flow of 885 cfs.

Lifelong Boelus resident Norine (Young) Nielsen, eighty-nine, was the grand marshal of the Boelus parade that was held on Sunday, June 29th. Nielsen was born on March 25th, 1925 on the family farm three miles west of Boelus, where she was also raised. She attended Soulville School through the eighth grade and graduated from Boelus High School. She married Glen Nielsen and has two daughters, six grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren…Nielsen enjoys attending the school activities and ball games of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remains active and enjoys reading, watching television, playing solitaire, and embroidering.
