With four seconds to go in the first half of last Thursday night’s battle between Centura and Amherst, the visiting Broncos had a decision to make. After taking a pair of unsuccessful shots downfield, and a pass interference call that shaved eight yards off their distance to the pylons, Amherst had time for one last play.
Despite seeing many familiar faces on the course, the field for last Tuesday afternoon’s Centura Cross Country Invitational was shaken up a bit, and the Centurions took advantage of the reshuffled deck.
Coming off of back-toback dominant wins over Ord and Centennial at the start of last week, the St. Paul softball team notched two more wins at Saturday’s Cozad Invitational to improve their record to 7-6.

After dropping their season opener to David City days earlier, the St. Paul Wildcats rallied to win a trio of matches last week, with the Blue and Gold topping both Ord and Sutton in separate duals and then beating Hershey in the opening round of the Lexington Tournament.
The St. Paul softball team came into last week’s slate of games holding a 2-3 record and were looking to get back to even. While the Blue and Gold accomplished that task with a road win over the Polk County Slammers last Tuesday, the Wildcats closed things out with back-to-back losses at the Centura triangular, bringing their mid-season mark to 3-5.
