Central Valley boys win mile relay at state in record time Why not? That was the question that Central Valley graduate Boston Wood asked himself as he rounded the final curve into the straightaway at Omaha Burke Stadium on Saturday. The Cougar already had the lead, so why not capture both the meet and state record as well? Last week, in the final race of the NSAA Class D State Track and Field Championships, Wood’s last lap on the oval in Omaha helped Central Valley win a gold medal in the boys’ 1600-meter relay.

Numbers weren’t on the Centurions’ side at the NSAA Class C State Track and Field Championships last week, but the Burgundy and Grey were able to lean on a series of strong performances to make their presence known in Omaha.

One of the roughest weather days that the St. Paul Wildcats had seen on the course this season ended up occurring during the team’s most important round of the year.

Elba’s Blake Barg didn’t get the warmest welcome at this year’s NSAA Class D State Track and Field Championships. In fact, when Barg stepped to the line for his inaugural race at Burke Stadium, the Elba junior found himself stuck in the middle of the state meet’s worst.

The St. Paul girls’ golf team will be bringing new equipment onto the course next season, thanks to PGA REACH Nebraska, the charitable arm of the Nebraska Section PGA.

St. Paul/Palmer’s upset bid falls short against Central City/Centura Eighth-seeded St.

For the first time in two years, the Elba Bluejays have qualified an athlete for the NSAA State Track and Field Championships. Last Wednesday, Elba’s Blake Barg punched his ticket to Omaha, and secured a gold medal in the process, at the District D-5 Meet, which was hosted by Burwell Senior High School.

The Wildcats will make their presence known at Burke Stadium this week, with St. Paul having qualified fifteen athletes for 2025 NSAA Class C State Track and Field Championships.
