Juniors notch three wins during busy stretch

As teams slide into the second half of the American Legion Baseball season, the St. Paul Juniors looked to be in postseason form last week when they picked up wins in three of their four competitions, including a walk-off victory over York on Sunday afternoon in St. Paul.

KELLY, SOTO PLAY IN CLASSIC

The best eight-man football players from across the state met at Lloyd Wilson Field on the campus of Hastings College for the annual Sertoma Eight-Man All-Star Classic last Saturday. While the game featured some of the best offensive players in Class D-1 and Class D-2 football, the East and West defenses shined the brightest.

LOCAL ALL-STARS LEAD CONFERENCE TO WIN

St. Paul’s Sack, Centura’s Fries part of winning team Twelve former basketball standouts suited up for the LouPlatte Conference at last Thursday’s New West All-Star Classic and all twelve players scored points in the contest, helping the LouPlatte All-Stars to a 73-58 win over the Southwest Conference All- Stars.

WILDCATS WERE PERFECT ON 18 Despite the challenges of Jackrabbit Run Golf Course, one characteristic that didn’t trip up the team was its length. On Thursday, the meet’s final day, the longest hole of the course—the par five, 531yard eighteenth hole—was parred by all five members of St. Paul’s team. With that being Jackson Wegner and Beau Paro’s final hole of the meet, Coach Wegner said it was a strong way to cap off the tournament.
