Happ-enings

Body
One summer, when I was a kid, the United Methodist Church in Palmer embarked on a project to put a new roof on its sanctuary. The church, which is located right down the block from my dad’s service station, is built in an a-frame style, meaning that for a couple of days, we had the chance to watch those workers scurry up and down that steep roof, replacing the shingles.

Mobile Food Pantry to be Held in Loup City

Body
The Sherman County Food Pantry and Foodbank for the Heartland recently announced that the mobile food pantry is returning to Loup City. The mobile food pantry will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 9:00 a.m. until all the food is gone. This time, the event will be held in front of Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership (CNCAP) at 626 “N” Street. Anyone can be served; there are no age limits, no income guidelines, or limits on family size. Families from any county may be served. A variety of fresh foods, as well as canned goods, will be pre-packaged for your convenience. Individual selection will not be available. Organizers ask that you stay in your vehicle, as this will be a drive through. Please start lining up on 6th and “N” streets. The line will go down “N” Street towards 7th Street. You will not be allowed to pick up for any other household/families, no exceptions. If you should have any questions, or are interested in volunteering, please contact Tanya at (308) 745-0780 ext. 122.

Thank You Card

Body
I would like to thank my family, friends, and students for the cards, memories, and words of encouragement to keep fighting the cancer tumors in my brain. Life is like peddling a bike: sometimes the pedals are up, and sometimes they are down, but you keep going around and around. Thank you all again; you lifted my spirit.
