Ten Years Ago, 2013 It’s time for readers of the Wolbach Messenger and residents of Wolbach and the surrounding area to decide if they want the newspaper to continue its publication. The number of subscribers on the newspaper’s mailing list is dangerously close to the 300 limit, which is used to determine whether the newspaper can keep its mailing permit and be considered a legal newspaper in the state of Nebraska. One newspaper in the area already fell below that standard and is no longer a legal newspaper. What that means is that the newspaper can no longer be used to publish legal notices or school and village proceedings. “Newspapers generally have three sources of revenue,” said Connie Thompson, editor of the Wolbach Messenger.

St. Paul Public Schools welcomed two new additions to its playground in December, and the kids are going gaga.

Volunteers with the St. Paul Senior Center—Howard County Senior Services— continue to work diligently to serve meals to those in need throughout St. Paul in 2023, but low numbers of volunteers, said Supervisor Toni Bentz last week, continue to stretch the organization thin.
