Nebraska Public Media produces virtual stadium tour

In honor of Memorial Stadium’s 100th anniversary, Nebraska Public Media Labs and its content production team have created a 2-D tour that allows visitors to virtually travel back in time to see Memorial Stadium as it was when it was first built, along with one of the venue’s first expansions.

Visitors to the “In The Deed, The Glory: Memorial Stadium” website at NebraksaPublicMedia. org/ MemorialStadium can use their computers or mobile devices to see how the stadium looked and learn about its history.

ELBA HOMECOMING

ELBA HIGH SCHOOL crowned its 2023 Homecoming King and Queen last Friday night during a special ceremony at the Elba Community Center. Jesse Mills was crowned king and Kayla Patton was crowned queen. Zariah Kadusale and Branson Fredrick were this year’s crown bearers.

St. Paul held their homecoming on Friday. Following the football game with Central City that night, Mercedes Lassen was crowned queen and Vlad’a Nousek king. Mercedes is the daughter of Brad Lassen of St. Paul and the late Laura Lassen and Vlad’a is a Rotary Foreign Exchange Student from the Czech Republic whose host parents are Machell and Kent Naylor of St. Paul.

Village issues boil water notice

Midweek last week, E. coli bacteria were found in the Village of Wolbach’s water supply. The presence of the bacteria indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal waste material. Bacterial contamination can occur due to increased runoff entering the drinking water source, such as following heavy rains; due to a break in a pipe composing the distribution system; or due to a failure in the water treatment process.

Surveyor showcases local history

On Friday, October 20th, Howard County Surveyor Tim Aitken and St. Paul Utilities Superintendent Matt Helzer led a group of surveyors with the Professional Surveyors Association of Nebraska (PSAN)—a statewide surveying association founded in 1964 with the mission of “advancing the science and art of the surveying profession”— on a tour around St. Paul, which had been a hub for land surveyors in the early days of the Cornhusker State.
