Lola Teter hosted the Monday Nite Bridge Club at the Marilyn Paulman home last week. Lola received the high prize, Rogene Vopat received second high, and Joyce Berney won the traveling prize. Joyce will host the March games of the group.

Howard County Sheriff Tom Busch will be departing the Howard County Sheriff’s Office later this year. In an interview on Friday, the county’s top law enforcement official said that he was in a process of transition that would see him departing the office, likely this spring.

Nebraska Extension will offer several local private pesticide safety education training sessions in 2024. Attendance at any of the following meetings will renew your certification, permitting individuals to purchase and apply Restricted Use Pesticides for three years. Initial certification may also be accomplished at the training sessions.

With abundant natural resources, a diverse landscape, and innovative farmers and ranchers leading the way, Nebraska is home to some of the nation’s best agriculture. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s (NDA) annual poster contest highlights and celebrates Nebraska agriculture. NDA’s poster contest is open to all Nebraska students in first through sixth grades. This year’s theme, Nebraska Agriculture: Ready, Set, Grow, applies to everything in Nebraska from livestock to crops. The deadline to submit posters is March 1, 2024.
