Multiple races to appear on primary ballot

The office of the Howard County clerk recently released a finalized list of election filings for Howard County. The filing windows for incumbent and non-incumbent candidates wishing to appear on the state’s May primary ballots have closed, the former at 5:00 p.m. on February 15th and the latter at 5:00 p.m. on March 1st.
St. Paul Legion working to bring back “old school cool”

Last month, on Valentine’s Day, the St. Paul American Legion Club’s new clubhouse on Highway 281 reopened to the public under new management, with a new menu focused on both new, homemade items, and bringing back “old school cool” staples from the club’s days on Howard Avenue.
SHERIFF BUSCH TO STEP DOWN MARCH 12TH

Howard County Sheriff Tom Busch will officially end employment with the county in just under one week’s time, on March 12th. Busch is leaving the sheriff’s office to manage the Heartland Public Shooting Park, where he has been a longtime volunteer.
Town & Country Club

The Town and Country Club met on February 15th at the home of Lola Teter. Joyce Berney, president, presided over the meeting. Seven members were present. The card game “golf” was played. Valentine gifts were exchanged between secret sisters. Lola served a delicious lunch. The next meeting will be on March 21st at Joyce Berney’s.

A memorial was made to the Wolbach Parks and Recreation Splash Pad Fund in memory of Jane Dugan Mclntyre from Doug and Jo Enevoldsen.
FIRE DEPT./RESCUE SQUAD TO MEET

The regular meeting of the Wolbach Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be held on Monday, March 4th, at 7:30 p.m., at the fire hall. All emergency personnel are encouraged to attend.
FOOT CLINIC

The monthly foot clinic will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at the Wolbach Community Center. Hours are 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
WOLBACH AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS

The American Legion Family met on February 20th at the Legion. Present at the meeting were seven Legion, one Son, one dual member, and six Auxiliary members.
Commander Luke Thompson called the joint meeting to order. Rhonda Allen gave the invocation. The POW/MIA empty chair ceremony was observed, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, the National Anthem was sung, and the Preamble was recited.
Upcoming events include the Auxiliary Dinner on March 17th and Legion Family meeting on March 19th.
Centurions earn conference title

For the second year in a row, the Centura speech team has returned from LouPlatte Conference speech meet as conference speech champions. The Centurions made it to the finals in nineteen out of its twenty entries in ten events at the meet.
