UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA - KEARNEY Graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred to 200 summer graduates at the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s (UNK) commencement exercises at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9th at UNK’s Health and Sports Center.

In recognition of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, Secretary of State Bob Evnen recently thanked Nebraska’s poll workers and encouraged more Nebraskans to serve as poll workers. National Poll Worker Recruitment Day was August 1, 2024.

Nebraska lawmakers convened last Thursday, July 25th, for a special session of the 108th Legislature focused on tax reform, with District 41 Senator Fred Meyer of St. Paul and other members of a seventeen-member task force assembled by Governor Jim Pillen looking to pass a plan that they say will significantly reduce Nebraska’s property tax burden.

From Sunday, August 4th through Wednesday, August 7th, the sixty-fifth Greeley County Free Fair will be coming to county fairgrounds in Spalding. Events will begin on Sunday, with the open class and 4-H horse shows at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., followed by barrel racing in the afternoon.
