For the second consecutive season, the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) Juniors secured their spot in the Nebraska American Legion Class C State Tournament.
Six Teams Play in Volleyball Tournament

The GCA Days Sand Volleyball Tournament attracted a large crowd on Saturday, with action taking place on the courts on Fourth Street near the railroad tracks. Six teams took part in this year’s tournament, with each team playing four matches in pool play followed by a singleelimination tournament. Winning this year’s tournament was Sets Appeal, a Grand Island team. Among the members of the winning team were former St. Paul High graduates Ashley Hall and Tesha Hall. Second place was won by the Dirty Half Dozen, which included St. Paul graduates Tahya Jerabek, Claira Thede, Abby Elstermeier, Austin Helzer, Tanner Wroblewski, and Jarred Hulinsky. DCB Stays Alive with Victory Over Overton

Vying for a spot in the Area C-6 Juniors Championship game, Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) and the Overton Bandits met for a semifinals matchup on the diamond in Ravenna Monday night. Ultimately, top-seeded DCB found early success in the batter’s box and kept their season alive with a convincing 17-3 victory.
DCB Seniors Snag League Title

In their first season in the Mid-Nebraska Baseball League, the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) Seniors made some history as they clinched the league title last Wednesday afternoon. Going into the matchup with just one loss on the season, a perfect 10-0 league record, and as the leaders of the East Division, DCB squared off with the West Division champions from Ogallala and ran away with a 7-0 victory.
St. Paul Juniors End Season Opposite Seward in Tourney

The St. Paul Juniors ended their 2022 season in last week’s Area B-4 Tournament played at Pawnee Park in Columbus. After defeating the hosts Columbus Lakeview in convincing fashion to open the tournament, the Juniors fell to Sutton on Saturday and were later eliminated in a close battle with Seward.

The St. Paul Post 119 Seniors saw an early lead slip away from them during last Wednesday’s game against Shelton-Gibbon in Gibbon.

Since suffering their first loss since the 2019 season, earlier this month the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) Seniors are back in championship form. On Wednesday, June 29th, the Howard County kids shut out Ravenna for a 13-0 victory.
DCB Drubs Ravenna Thanks to Fifth-Inning Eruption

Midway through last week’s matchup between the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) and Ravenna Juniors – the second in the month of June for the two squads – things looked bleak for DCB. Facing the risk of being bested by run rule, the Howard County kids were able to put together one of their biggest rallies of the season to bring home a 15-8 victory.

It took some late game heroics from the top of St. Paul’s lineup to do it, but the Post 119 Juniors saved their best inning for when it mattered most in last Tuesday’s 4-2 victory over Grand Island Tom Dinsdale.

The last time the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) Seniors lost a baseball game was in 2019. Since then, DCB has dominated Class C American Legion baseball in the Cornhusker State, winning two state championships and piling up an impressive winning streak of sixty games spanning three seasons.
