Six Teams Play in Volleyball Tournament

The GCA Days Sand Volleyball Tournament attracted a large crowd on Saturday, with action taking place on the courts on Fourth Street near the railroad tracks. Six teams took part in this year’s tournament, with each team playing four matches in pool play followed by a singleelimination tournament. Winning this year’s tournament was Sets Appeal, a Grand Island team. Among the members of the winning team were former St. Paul High graduates Ashley Hall and Tesha Hall. Second place was won by the Dirty Half Dozen, which included St. Paul graduates Tahya Jerabek, Claira Thede, Abby Elstermeier, Austin Helzer, Tanner Wroblewski, and Jarred Hulinsky. DCB Seniors Snag League Title

In their first season in the Mid-Nebraska Baseball League, the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) Seniors made some history as they clinched the league title last Wednesday afternoon. Going into the matchup with just one loss on the season, a perfect 10-0 league record, and as the leaders of the East Division, DCB squared off with the West Division champions from Ogallala and ran away with a 7-0 victory.

DCB Drubs Ravenna Thanks to Fifth-Inning Eruption

Midway through last week’s matchup between the Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus (DCB) and Ravenna Juniors – the second in the month of June for the two squads – things looked bleak for DCB. Facing the risk of being bested by run rule, the Howard County kids were able to put together one of their biggest rallies of the season to bring home a 15-8 victory.
