CENTURIONS BATTLE AT WOOD RIVER The Centura track and field teams fought the wind last week at the Wood River Invite, but Mother Nature’s best couldn’t thwart the Burgundy and Grey’s top performers on the track and in the field.
The stakes were high in Cairo last Monday evening when, in a battle of state-rated teams, the Central City/ Centura Kernels defended their home turf with a 10-4 win over the red-hot St. Paul/Palmer Cats.
The Elba Bluejays have become a team to keep an eye on this spring, as the Purple and Gold’s girls’ squad continues to make improvements both on the oval and off the runways. That improvement was illustrated last Tuesday, when the Howard County kids made some noise at the Fullerton Invite.
