Annette (Annie) Colvin, 67, was called home on July 20, 2022 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. A celebration of Annie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Northridge Assembly of God Church in Grand Island. Pastor Mark Oberbeck will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Fair Passess on August 13th

Janet Marie Fair, 75, peacefully passed away from cancer at home, surrounded by her family, on August 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemence and Irene Kezeor of St. Paul; and daughter, Susette M. Townsend of Rochester, Minnesota. Janet is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Leo; daughters, Lisa (Brett) Karnowski of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Ann (Nathan) Bibus of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; and Amy (Brian) Mathews of Lakeville, Minnesota; sonin- law, Greg Townsend of Rochester, Minnesota; brother, Ralph (Linda) Kezeor of St. Paul; and sister, Julie (Derek) Graviette of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren, Megan (Jake Johnson) and Adam Townsend, Parker, Isaac, Tyler, and Cooper Bibus, Logan, Ryan, and Jason Karnowski, and Charles and Lexie Mathews; greatgrandchildren, Nolan and Jake Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She worked as a housewife, bookkeeper at Quality Service Institute, and a cheerleader for her grandchildren’s sports. She loved gardening, trips to winter in South Padre, Texas or Treasure Island, Florida, sewing, cooking, and puzzles. Janet always looked forward to family gatherings in Nebraska and at the cabins in Northern Minnesota. What food to bring was a high priority.

Sveum Passes in Colorado

Alice Sveum, 85, died on August 6, 2022 at her home in Arvada, Colorado. Alice was born on May 5, 1937 in St. Paul. She was the youngest child of George and Anna Wall. She grew up on her family farm two miles west of town. After graduating in 1954, at age seventeen, she moved to Omaha to attend business school. She began working for the Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD), eventually becoming the secretary to the Director of Industrial Relations until leaving in May of 1968. While living in Omaha, she joined a singles club that was sponsored by the MUD, where she met David Sveum of Webster, South Dakota.

George Henry Dethlefs

George Henry Dethlefs, 75, of Dannebrog, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, surrounded by his loving family. Services were held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Robert W. Carlson officiated. Dan Nielsen served as the soloist and Linda Kezeor served as the pianist. The congregational hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. Other musical selections included “Just As I Am” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”.

Eugene A. “PeeWee” Jorgensen, 87, of St. Paul, died on Friday, August 5, 2022, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Vince Parsons and Deacon Neil Baquet celebrated the Mass. Mark Jorgensen served as the eulogist and Doug Novak served as the lector. The eucharistic ministers were Barb Sack and Rick Harrahill. Gift bearers were Erin Jorgensen, Lindsay Good, Sabrina Jorgensen, Grace Jerabek, Rebecca Larsen, Ashley O’Hagan, Hailey Jorgensen, Brittney Anderson, Katie Young, Jamie McAnelly, Morgan Jorgensen, and Kara Trampe. Singing at the service were Linda Schmaderer, Cindy Peters, Dan Nielsen, and Stacey Keller. Musical selections included “Lead Me, Lord”, “Taste and See”, “Song of Farewell”, and “In Every Age”. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Casket bearers included Brad Jorgensen, Rick Harrahill, Todd Peters, David Jorgensen, Jeff Jorgensen, and Kevin Jorgensen. Those serving as honorary bearers were Eric Jorgensen, Christopher Novak, Grant Jerabek, Adam Jorgensen, Ryan Jorgensen, Trevor Trampe, and Friends of AA. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul assisted the family.

David Ray Jensen, Sr., 67, of Elba, died on Saturday, August 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Vince Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in the Elba Cemetery in Elba. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. A complete obituary will appear next week.
