Diane E. Hoegren, 76, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at CHI- Health St. Francis. Celebration of Life services will be held on Thursday, November 10th at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are designated to Trinity Lutheran School.

S. Moraczewski Passes at Age 87

Shirley J. Moraczewski, 87, of Loup City, died on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Reverend Richard L. Piontkowski celebrated the Mass. Cindy Gappa served as the lector. Pat Setlik and Sonny and Bonnie Sekutera were the musicians. Musical selections were “Here I Am, Lord”, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”, “One Bread, One Body”, “Song of Farewell”, and “On Eagle’s Wings”. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Casket bearers were Seth Mostek, Tony Silver, Jason Silver, Adam Stanczyk, Austin Wells, and Adam Mostek. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City assisted the family. Shirley Jean Silver was born on December 22, 1934 to Anthony and Belle Wentek Silver in Loup City. She grew up in Loup City, attended Loup City Schools, and graduated in 1952. After graduation, she worked for Paul Mathews as a legal secretary.

Batts, Daughter Pass in Lincoln

Jolene Sue Batts, 37, and her infant daughter, Phoenycks Hope, passed away on October 20, 2022, in Lincoln. A celebration of their lives will be held from 1:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at The Elks Lodge, 604 South Locust Street, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family- Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Clarence Paugh Passes at Age 86

Clarence “JR” Leon Paugh, 86, of Rushville, Indiana, passed away on October 21, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 29, 1936 in Jefferson County, Indiana to the late Clarence Otto Paugh, Sr. and Zetta Mae (Gates) Paugh. JR married Gloria Mae (Horky) Kunze Paugh on September 10, 1977, and she survives. He attended the Webb, New Salem, Arlington, Laurel, Blocher, Vienna, Deputy, Morristown, Austin, and Henryville high schools. JR was honorably discharged in 1963 from the United States Army Reserves. JR was employed at International Furniture, Delon’s D W, and retired after thirty years at Ford Motor Company — Indianapolis as a technician. He was a proud lifelong Democrat; he served on Rush County Election Board and was precinct committeeman. JR was member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, UAW local 1111, Eagles Arie 2036 (Golden) Age Past Club Master, and Scout Leader, Pack 27.

William “Bill” C. Potter, 75, of Cotesfield passed away on Monday, October 18, 2022 surrounded by his children, who loved him dearly. Memorial services in his honor were held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo officiated. Burial followed at the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Donald Berney Passes at Age 82

Donald R. Berney, 82, of Wolbach, died on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul. Services were held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Reverend Glenda Pearson officiated. Anna Sake served as the soloist, singing, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Hymn of Promise”. Marilyn Paulman served as the organist. Recorded selections included “Gone Fishin’” by Tom T. Hall. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Active casket bearers included Charlie Berney, Brent Donscheski, Chandler Donscheski, Connor Donscheski, Mike Thompson, and Joey Lane. Honorary bearers were Brianna Berney, Reilly Donscheski, Ashlyn Donscheski, Jack Lane, Joe Lane, AB Villanueva, Atreyu Villanueva, Kennedy Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Charlie Wagner, Mitch Wagner, Cordel Wagner, Bud Vopat, Richard Cordes, Steve Clark, and Ted Rother.

G. Schimonitz Passes in Lincoln

George Paul Schimonitz, 93, Lincoln, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2022, with his children by his side. George was born on August 23, 1929, in Omaha, to his parents, Mathias and Theresa (Mollner) Schimonitz. He attended high school and worked at the Omaha Stock Yards as a pen rider and on the hay wagons until drafted for service to the U.S. Navy. He served at Barber’s Point, Hawaii from 1950 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
