The Phonograph-Herald | February 19, 2025 Betty Jean Spilger of Grand Island passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 14th, at the Berean Bible Church in Grand Island, with Pastor Jim Reynolds officiating.
Elberta June (Black) Jares, 90, of Kearney, formerly of St. Paul and Aurora, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney.
George Hamilton, 87, of Elba, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home. A time to greet the family and sign the guestbook was held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Jacobsen- Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St.
Jack Goettsche was born on August 13, 1945, to Herbert and Florence (Nelson) Goettsche in St. Paul. He received his education at St. Paul High School. Jack entered the United States Navy on October 9, 1962 and was discharged on November 23, 1965. During his service, he was stationed at the United States Naval Station in Newport, Rhode Island, for nearly three years, where he served as a boatswain’s mate trainee.
Robert Lee Johnson, known lovingly as Bob, passed away on January 27, 2025. Bob was born April 17, 1929 on the family farm in Cushing. He grew up on the farm along with his sisters, Beverly and Judy. This is where he learned the value of his faith, hard work, respect for others, a curiosity for life, and a positive mindset.
