Family picnic to be held

The Spilinek, Krepel, Jares, Svoboda Family and Friends Picnic will be held Sunday, September 28th at the Elba Community Center at 12:30 p.m. Bring table service, main dish, and salad or dessert. Drinks will be furnished. Also bring a family photo for the Picture/Photo Tree Album.

Longtime educator embracing role as a Bluejay Elba Public Schools (EPS) welcomed a new superintendent this academic year. Bobby Kelley, who replaces 2024–2025 interim superintendent Dana Wiseman, joins the district on the heels of five years as the principal at Gibbon Public Schools.

Vogel begins new chapter following sale of business

A business that has operated in St. Paul for the better part of a decade made a big change this week. On Monday, September 15th, Vogel Auto Repair at 101 Custer Street, which Jeff Vogel has operated out of since he founded his business in 2017, became Leth Auto Repair, owned and operated by Vogel’s longtime employee, Jason Leth. Although the name of the location has changed, both the former owner and the current one stressed last week that the work done there would remain the same.

Garden enjoyed by participants, pollinators

All kinds of plants are growing at the Rotary Club of St. Paul’s community garden this season, from native prairie flowers and pollinator habitats, to “traditional garden stuff.” This spring, summer, and fall marks the third season for the Rotary garden, which is located south of Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, on land belonging to the care facility.

Taken from the files of The Wolbach Messenger Ten Years Ago, 2015 Village of Wolbach officials have closed the burn site at Cottonwood Park until further notice! The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality conducted a complaint investigation of the Village of Wolbach’s community burn site. The investigation found that there were materials present in the burn pile that were not trees, brush, or untreated lumber…The burn site will remain closed until the violations are corrected.
