Thank you to friends and family for your congratulations on our fiftieth anniversary. We enjoyed your cards and greetings. For those of you with questions regarding Jay with hair: yes, his hair was an even cut since out of the army the previous year, until our wedding. However, he never needed a pony tail, a man bun, or a mullet cut, as we know its gone to now.

The members of the Summer Sewing Program at the Presbyterian church are getting ready for their June classes. Once again, the beginners will sew in the mornings and the advanced students will sew in the afternoon.

High school students from across Nebraska competed at Nebraska Envirothon on April 26th at the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s Cedar Point Biological Station near Lake McConaughy. To qualify for the state-level event, teams competed at regional qualifiers testing their knowledge of soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, range, policy, and a current environmental issue.

I would like to say thank you to all of the members of each family, staff, and board member that selected me as a recipient for their scholarship award. This money will truly help me as I attend Northeast Community College to work towards my goal of becoming a utility lineman! Central Community College-Hastings honored about 360 graduate candidates May 5th during its fifty-sixth annual commencement ceremony. Forty-five of the degree candidates achieved an accumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher during their college career and graduated with honors.

Go Big Give, a twenty- four-hour online giving event organized by the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation and Heartland United Way, ended a full day of giving at midnight last Thursday with $1,653,234 raised for 158 organizations from 5,013 donations, once again breaking records in total dollars raised.

Thank you everyone for making my retirement party so wonderful. Thanks for giving me the chance to thank each one of you in person for all the years of sharing the Sweet Shoppe with you and our families. Words can not express my gratitude. My heart is overflowing with love and appreciation. The cards and gifts are overwhelming— and jelly jars! Thank you for everything.
